Water is something very present in Forman's pieces. With an amazing technique, the artist paints waters very realistic: bright, with multiple light reflections, making the viewer almost feel water's movements in oceans or at a beach. According to Forman: "Water, when you take it out and put it in a cup, is going to look the same anywhere, but [its variations in appearance] has to do with the environment — what’s above it, what’s below it, how the light is reflecting"
Zaria Forman is not only speeches. She donates part of the money from her painting's sales to organizations that help the planet. She also has an adventurous spirit, traveling to far places of the world to live directly and to be inspired by the nature she seeks to preserve. Some of her latest destinations include Greenland and Maldives. According to the artist:
"My inspiration for drawing began early in my life. Throughout my childhood my family traveled all over the world to remote landscapes which were the subject of my mother’s fine art photography. I developed an appreciation for the beauty and vastness of the ever-changing sky and sea. I loved watching a far off storm on the western desert plains, the monsoon rains of southern India, and the cold arctic light illuminating Greenland’s waters."
Zaira Forman's paintings are undoubtedly beautiful, but they also have some kind of loneliness. Her landscapes are wide, empty (with only the crude nature) and generally have that dark mood of a cloudy day before the storm. It is all a little bit sad and melancholic, especially with that feeling of being too little, too powerless facing the all might nature. A loneliness that can only be overcome when we look together these landscapes, and we understand that we are not only are there, but we are part of it.
